Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to make a solid income by selling simple digital products online?
Well, I do it every day, averaging $541 in sales daily, and all from selling what many might call “silly” PDFs. No high-ticket offers, no complicated funnels, just straightforward, easy-to-create digital products that solve real problems.
In this article, I’m going to share the exact 5-step framework I use to create, market, and sell these PDFs, so you can replicate this simple but effective business model.

Why Selling PDFs?
Most people think that to make good money online, you need to sell expensive courses, coaching programs, or physical products. But I’ve found a sweet spot in selling PDFs priced under $100, often much less. These products are easy to create, easy to deliver, and don’t require a lot of overhead or complicated tech. Plus, they align well with my lifestyle—I work just a few hours a day, outsource small tasks like design, and focus on creating content that connects with my audience.
In fact, my coaching program, which I offered earlier this year, hasn’t been my main source of income since February. Instead, my PDFs have taken over, and I’m excited to share with you how you can do the same with my proven framework.
Step 1: Find a Problem You Enjoy Solving for a Specific Group
This might be the most important step in the entire process. It’s not about chasing trends or the biggest market. It’s about finding a problem you genuinely enjoy solving for a group of people you like working with. Why? Because chasing money alone leads to burnout. I learned this the hard way when I ran a Shopify store selling women’s jewelry—made money but hated the work.
Instead, focus on what interests you or sparks your curiosity. It doesn’t have to be a passion, but you should care enough to want to help solve the problem. A great question to ask yourself is:
“What can I help someone achieve in seven days or less?”
Answering this question keeps your offer specific and actionable. For example, my product called the Digital Product Challenge helps people create and launch their digital product in 5 days or less. It’s not about sales funnels, email sequences, or content creation—it’s laser-focused on one outcome. This specificity is vital because vague, broad offers that try to solve too many problems at once usually fail to sell.
Here’s another example from a community I’m part of: a fitness coach who targets anime fans. Instead of generic fitness advice, he created a niche membership for people who love anime and want to get fit. That focused approach has brought him over $100,000 a month in recurring revenue. The takeaway? Find your niche and solve a specific problem for a specific group.
Step 2: Write Your Step-by-Step Guide
Once you’ve identified the problem, it’s time to write out your solution. This typically involves creating a 20 to 40-page PDF that outlines a clear, actionable plan—usually a 5 to 7-step process—on how to solve the problem.
For instance, if your niche is helping dads lose weight, your guide might include steps like:
- Walk 10,000 steps daily
- Eat under 2,000 calories
- Get 8 hours of sleep each night
- Drink 8 glasses of water
- Lift weights three times a week
Each step becomes a chapter or section in your PDF, making the content digestible and easy to follow. My Digital Product Challenge guide is around 47 pages long with plenty of images and can be read in under 15 minutes. The goal is to keep it concise, actionable, and focused on the outcome you promised.
After customers purchase your PDF, I recommend following up with an email sequence. This sequence acts as a reminder of what they bought and encourages them to take action on each step. Think of it as a friendly nudge to keep them engaged and help them see results.
Step 3: Get a Professional Cover Designed
Don’t underestimate the power of a great cover. People absolutely judge your PDF by its cover, and a professional-looking design can significantly boost your sales. If your cover looks amateurish or boring, it’s going to hurt your credibility and reduce conversions.
Hiring a graphic designer is affordable and worth every penny. You can find talented designers on platforms like Fiverr for $10-$25. I strongly recommend getting a cover that looks like a physical book or product—3D mockups work great because they make the digital product feel tangible and real.
Step 4: Upload Your PDF to a Selling Platform
When it comes to selling your PDF, simplicity is key. I recommend starting with Stan Store. It’s user-friendly, requires minimal tech skills, and you can have your product live in under an hour—even if you’ve never done this before.
Stan Store offers a free 14-day trial and then costs $29/month, which is a bargain for what you get. Many six and seven-figure businesses use it because of its simplicity and reliability. While there is a higher-tier plan at $99/month, you don’t need that when you’re just starting out.
My advice? Don’t get bogged down in building elaborate websites, creating brand kits, launching podcasts, or setting up complex email funnels right away. Your primary focus should be on getting your first customer, then the second, and so on. The rest will follow.
Even if your first sale is just $5, that’s a win. It gives you momentum, confidence, and valuable feedback. Then you can gradually improve your product, raise the price, and build social proof. For example, my Digital Product Challenge started at $7 with a 23-page PDF. After feedback and improvements, it grew to 47 pages and now sells for $97. This incremental approach works wonders.
Step 5: Create Daily Content on One Social Media Platform
This is the hardest step for most people, but it’s crucial. Consistent content creation builds your audience, establishes your authority, and drives sales. But it’s not just about posting—it’s about crafting your messaging carefully.
Many people think switching platforms will magically improve sales, but the truth is, your messaging makes the difference, not the platform. Focus your energy on refining what you say and how you say it.
I follow what I call the “Four P’s” of content creation:
- Plan: Share your step-by-step process or framework frequently. For me, that’s the 5-step plan I’m outlining here.
- Perspective: Share your opinions, thoughts, and unique views on your industry, business, or life. Back them up with stories, facts, or testimonials. Don’t be afraid to challenge conventional wisdom.
- Proof: Share social proof like testimonials, before-and-after results, screenshots of compliments or sales, and case studies. I keep a “brag folder” on my devices to easily access this content.
- Personality: Inject your unique personality into your content. Share funny phrases, personal stories, or quirky habits. People connect with authenticity and uniqueness, not bland, generic content.
By combining these four elements, you create engaging, memorable content that stands out from the sea of sameness online. And that’s how you build a loyal audience and consistent sales.
Final Thoughts
Making money online doesn’t have to be complicated. My daily income from selling PDFs averages $541, and it comes from a simple, repeatable 5-step framework:
- Find a problem you enjoy solving for a specific group
- Write a concise, actionable PDF guide
- Get a professional cover designed
- Upload it to an easy-to-use platform like Stan Store
- Create daily content on one social media platform, focusing on your messaging
This process is straightforward but requires consistency and patience. If you’re ready to start, I highly recommend pricing your first product low—around $7 to $17—to get initial customers and feedback. Use that feedback to improve your product, increase the price over time, and build social proof.

Remember, the goal isn’t to make money immediately but to build momentum by getting customers and refining your offer. As you grow, the income will follow. So stop overthinking, pick a problem you enjoy solving, and start creating your first PDF today.
