We took the kids to The Big Bounce of America yesterday. The largest touring inflatable event in the world. Picture a city made of bounce houses. Kids losing their minds. Parents trying to relax. Fun was had. The kids slept like babies last night. While our kids were jumping, Amanda and I were sitting in the lounge chairs with the other parents. Out of nowhere, a little boy walked past us crying, “Somebody help me!” Nobody moved. Amanda & I leaped out of our chairs. “What’s wrong, buddy?” I asked. “I lost my Mom”, he sniffled. He was sharing…clearly terrified. He rattled off his Mom’s phone number. Amanda called and texted several times. No answer. I put my arm around him trying to clam him down. We retraced his steps. Back through the maze of inflatables. Walked down the line of people waiting to get a snow cone, as that was the last spot he saw his Mom. No luck. He then shared where he was at right before he met up with us. He was racing his buddy Steven at the obstacle course. And what do you know… We spot Steven! This little boy was 7. Steven looked to be about 12. Steven led us straight to his Mom. She had no idea her son was “missing” for nearly 25 minutes, as her phone was buried in her purse. I don’t blame her, I think he just panicked. Although, I’m not sure why Steven didn’t speak up. Anywhoo… I explained what happened, and she thanked me for bringing him back. It got me thinking about the Mr. Rodgers quote… “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” What a great quote. Because whether it’s a scared little boy at a bounce house or a Creator who feels lost in the online business maze…the helpers matter. The helpers stand out like a fart in a library. It’s what my whole “Serve First” mentality is built around. Serve first, sell second. Being a helper is rare these days. Too many looking out for themselves. It’s something I’m glad the kids got to see their parents do in person yesterday. Be the helper, Reader YOU GOT THIS 🙌 In your corner,
