She’s growing up. And I’m not crying… you are

My daughter has her 1st school dance tonight.

No, I’m not crying…some’s been cutting onions all week at Château de Dukes.

We’ve spent hours scouring the internet for dresses.

Her Mom ordered a handful of them on Wednesday.

She’s asked me what time we’re leaving 37x now.

She’s ecstatic.

I’m…well, I’m trying to hold it together.

Hanging on by a thread.

It feels like yesterday, she was twirling around in the living room with a tutu and cowboy boots.

Now, she wants me to drop her off “around the corner” from the school.

Then it hit me like a mack truck…

We don’t get a warning when the last time is the last time.

The last time they ask to hold your hand in public.

The last time they need help tying their shoes.

The last time you carry them up to bed.

We’re so busy living life, building our business, and trying to be everything to everyone…

Sometimes we miss the moments we’ll wish we could replay forever.

I know this is a bit different from my style of emails, but if you have kids…

Don’t wait for the “perfect” time to make space for them.

The “perfect” time doesn’t exist.

There’s only right NOW.

Put the phone down. Close the laptop. Step away from your desktop. Go outside and toss a football, kick a soccer ball, burn a frozen pizza together, have her pain your nails (yes Dads, I’m talking to you), go for a walk, a trip to get ice cream, or sit on the porch and talk about nothing.

That’s the GOOD stuff.

The internet ain’t going anywhere.

It’ll be here when you get back.

But that little girl in cowboy boots?

She’ll be off dancing before you know it.

YOU GOT THIS 🙌

In your corner, Adam
