Why losing weight and business are the same damn thing.
And how it can be looked at as boring.
Adam stopping by again…
As you’re reading this email, I’m picking up the kids.
I haven’t seen them in 15 days.
After four years, this single Dad thing hasn’t got one bit easier.
This has been the longest I’ve gone without seeing them.
They went to Montana for 10 days with their Mom.
I’m filled with excitement, as if I were a young boy walking into Toys R Us with a crisp $100 bill in my hand.
Anywhoo…
On May 3rd, I decided I was going to lose weight.
I started tracking my calories that day with an app called FatSecret.
Tracking calories sounds as exciting as cutting grass with scissors. I get it.
It’s really not that bad, though.
On that day, I weighed 189.0 lbs.
My birthday is August 8th and set a goal to be 175.0 lbs.
When I stepped on the scale this morning, it read 174.8.
I hit my goal with 22 days to spare!
Here’s the thing….
It’s pretty simple.
And it can be summed up in two words:
Calorie deficit.
For the last 74 consecutive days, I have been in a calorie deficit.
In other words, I burn more calories than I consume.
I weigh myself every morning, as you’ve likely heard me say this before: You cannot improve what you don’t measure.
I try and stay under my 2,100 calorie limit, although not perfect.
I don’t have to be “perfect” as long as I’m burning more calories than I consume.
Here’s my shockingly simple weight loss strategy;
- Walk: 30 minutes, 3x per week
- Lift: 40 minutes, 3x – 4x per week
- Cardio: 10 minutes, 3x – 4x per week
- Calories: 2,100 calories per day (no cheat days needed)
Then, each day I skip breakfast as this gives me freedom to indulge a bit.
That’s it.
All things I control.
This got me thinking about business.
It’s the daily (often times boring) daily disciplines you DECIDE to do, or not, such as:
- Publishing content on one social media channel platform
- Publishing pillar content on a blog, podcast or YouTube channel
- Emailing your database with stories, lessons and ah ha moments
- Making CONSISTENT offers to your audience via social media, email and/or DMs
- Engaging with your audience (social media, DMs, email, Zoom/phone calls, etc)
Quite similar to my weight loss plan, isn’t it?
I re-released my 48 Hour Ebook Challenge in June as I added a list of 127 niches, an outsource guide, 4 accountability emails, and an order form page plug-n-play template.
I launched that funnel on June 22nd.
112 leads with 8 people purchasing (5 of those purchases coming in the last 8 days).
Making progress.
Building momentum.
More importantly, gaining confidence in this offer.
This game (and life) is such a confidence game.
That’s all it is.
Every successful person you see is confident.
Every last one of them.
Some might appear more confident than others (like the Grant Cardones), but they all have confidence that radiates through thier bones.
How do you get more confident?
Making progress.
I feel damn good about hitting my weight loss goal three weeks ahead of schedule.
I feel damn good that I’ve made sales 4 out of the last 5 days with the 48 Hour Ebook Challenge.
Strive to make progress in whatever it is you do.
As this will give you that confidence you need.
And I want to help you make that progress…
When you write and publish your ebook in 48 hours, I want to be your FIRST paying customer.
I’ve had over a dozen people complete the challenge in that time, for those wondering — is that even possible?
I’ve had three people complete the challenge in under 12 hours!
Will you be the next success story, {first_name}?
